No: ENT docs know little about TMJ. See a TMJ expert. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.

Not the best place: TMD is usually not treated by ENT. You should be seeing a Dentist familiar with TMD diagnosis & treatment. Problems may be caused by clenching, or by functional interferences even though to yo teeth appear aligned. Injections, splints, occlusal adjustment, biofeedback, muscle relaxants, RNC, are treatment modalities for joint dysfunction, depending on the cause.

See OFP specialist: If the medical doctor or your dentist gives you a diagnosis of a TMD, it is recommended that you consult Orofacial Pain specialist. TMJ disorder is a complex medical condition, therefore, it's a good idea to see an Orofacial Pain specialist for proper diagnosis and treatment. They are the experts in TMJ issues.

Yes: Yes the dentist can give you a shot for pain but it depends on where the pain is. I'd see an orthodontist because you may think they are aligned but it might be more than that. TMD is nothing to shake a stick at so seek out those with good experience because is it truly TMD Or TMJ??
