Not stronger,: different. They tend to cover different bacteria. Dentists and oral surgeons may prefer clindamycin for the organisms in the mouth. Better coverage than say amoxicillin. Sometimes it may be only a personal preference.

Somehow: Amoxicillin is the most commonly used antibiotic prescribed for dental infection, Clindamy in is reserved for those patients who are allergic to Amoxicillin. They both have similar indications in dentistry.

Don't second guess: Take the antibiotic prescribed by your General Dentist or Specialist Periodontist, and exactly as prescribed. Your practitioner has chosen a particular medicine for a particular therapeutic reason. If you have questions, ask your treating doctor. Do not take left-over meds that had been prescribed for a different or a similar past problem. Follow the professional instructions you have been given.
