Lingual Papillitis: Caused by inflammation of small fungiform papillae on the tip of the tongue that contain taste buds. Very common and some causes are: local irritation,stress, hormone fluctuations, gastrointestinal upset and specific foods. May possibly caused by a virus thats recurrent like HSV(unproven).
