Taste Bud: Nope. Every single time anyone has come in to my practice over the past 25 years these are always the taste buds that patients had just not seen or observed before. Bumps on the back of the tongue are taste buds.

Bumpy tongue: There are several types of taste buds the largest being circumvallate papilla located on the back portion of the toongue, they are normal and nothing to worry about. There can be from 8-12 of them and they can give us bitter and sweet taste sensation.

Bumps on tongue: They are most likely taste buds called circumvallate papillae but obviously we can't see or examine you over the internet so to be sure you would have to see your dentist, oral surgeon or an ENT specialist..
