? Maybe?: It depends what infection he is trying to treat. It is largely excreted by kidneys not the liver. The infecting organism may be susceptible to another antibiotic. Ask her MD. Good doctors don't mind being questioned. She is also elderly. Maybe it slipped his mind when he made the choice of antibiotics.
