Deep scale clean at dentist, mitral valve repair with prosthetic material 2yr on adult 150lbs in uk gp prescribed 3g amoxicillon why not 2g? confused

Shouldn't matter: The American Heart Association guidelines calls for 2g amoxicillin 1 hour prior to dental appointment. It used to be 3g 1 hour before and 1.5g 6 hours after. Is 3g going to be a problem? Not likely, unless you are allergic.

Valve : The standard regimen is 2 GM prior to procedure of amox if not allergic this is for a valve replacement. You have mentioned repair. Did you have a ring placed or a valve replaced? Best of luck.

Moderate risk: Antibiotic prophylaxis is not generally recommended for people with moderate risk conditions, only for high risk. Your dentist and cardiologist is the best source of information for questions and concerns related to your condition and premeditation according to AHA.
