Elbow: sounds like olecranon bursitis, usually after trauma or repeted use of the joint, such as golfing or tennis. if this is the case and the nodule is getting more swollen have the primary care doc try to drain out the serous fluid - and send the fluid to check for gout, inflammatory arthritis, RA. If he doesnt want to do this, have him refer your to an orthopedic doctor who can do this as well.
