Virtual prescribing: Hi Jess, the short answer is yes. You will need to make sure they are in your dhb and request a consult. Once they have evaluated the case, and found the need to prescribe, they could theoretically prescribe medications through healthtap.

E-prescriptions ...: It can be frustrating making recurrent visits to see your GP for longstanding, or well defined conditions., Prescribing for longterm, or complex conditions is best done by a Doctor familiar with you and your medical record. There are many GPs in New Zealand using Patient Portals such as Manage My Health which allow for prescriptions to be requested online. Discuss with your GP

Waikato : Yes Waikato dhb area patients via this platform. Nationally some gp practices can renew scripts online via patient portal. As a GP however I do encourage you to stick to obtaining scripts for regular meds via your GP. Might be more expensive but much safer as they know your record can reliably monitor you and multiple prescribers = bigger risk of serious medication error.
