A member asked:

Can patients who have sleep apnea take mirtazapine? my gp prescribed mirtazapine to me but he doesn't know that i have sleep apnea. (it was prescribed before the definitive diagnosis of sleep apnea.)?

TREAT SLEEP APNEA: Good question to now ask the doctor. Are you on a cpap or waiting to get one? You may want to get the sleep apnea treated first depending on the level of severity. Mirtazapine is a sedating antidepressant so it is not like some sleep meds that can slow your breathing
