Can i use the lidoderm patch for a (very localized area)of a sunburn i received on my leg?i have a prescription for these on file. and feel it would be safe and efficacious to use to help with the pain for a very brief time. what do you think?

Lidoderm and sunburn: I would not use it because a sunburn is damaged skin and lidoderm (lidocaine) has adhesive and has to be removed after 12 hours, so you run the risk of further inflaming damaged skin. Would use soloarcaine spray ( from the same family as lidoderm-thye are "caines"),hawaiian tropic ice gel. Do not overuse caines have systemic cardiac effects (as can lidoderm -it is more concentrated). f/u w/doc

Use sparingly: This is just a temporary fix. You would benefit from both Silvadene (silver sulfadiazine) Cream and anti-inflammatory medication like Advil or Aleve if not allergic to these products.
