Burning sensation of skin left leg in area of calve (like sunburn, but don't have sunburn). not hot to touch, no rash. what could be causing this?

Burning calf: If you have problems with high blood sugar or diabetes, this could be reason. That is nerve pain. Other possibilities, rashless shingles if you had the chickenpox. If not improving, see your doctor.
