Lumbar mri normal but still have pain tingling and burning like constant sunburn in legs and back. numbness in right leg at times. any thoughts?

Nerve conduction: Consult a neurologist. You may have neuropathy and will likely need nerve conduction study along with blood workup.

It may take months to recover. Sometimes surgery makes back problems worse. Mri is of limited use. You need to spend some serious time with your surgeon.
