Pain and dark urine: It can be hard to tell whether a person has just pain from a workout or has exertional rhabdomyolysis. One should stay hydrated by drinking adequate fluids, and if the urine is brownish, if the muscle pain is severe, or if muscles are swollen, a doctor can evaluate for rhabdo (blood and urine testing). Rhabdo may be more likely if there was a sudden increase in the level of training intensity.
