It's possible: If you had shingles in the same area where you are experiencing rib pain - it is possible that you have a case of post-herpetic neuralgia, a type of nerve pain caused by damage to the nerve from the varicella zoster virus which causes shingles. See your doctor - there are special medications that can ease any moderate to severe pain from nerve damage due to shingles (neurontin vs Lyrica (pregabalin) vs elavil.
