A member asked:

Have had a dull pain on left side of my neck for 7 days. 4 days ago i noticed a small cluster of 6 blisters right in the middle of chest. shingles?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Likely not: Your question reveals a dull pain on lateral neck, then 4 days later a cluster of blisters in middle of the chest. Shingles is caused by the same virus as chicken pox, and lays dormant and usually strikes elderly people with weakened immune systems. Pain normally referred to as intense, and the blistering would not cross the midline, but be affecting a stripe unilaterally called a dermatome.
