It can recur: Shingles is a re-activation of the chickenpox virus that hibernates in nerve nodes . These are located to the side/front of vertebrae. If the circulating immune factors wane they can travel down the nerve & show up as pain/outbreak. You can take antivirals to reduce intensity of the outbreak . I would consult your doc for confirmation/treatment.
