A member asked:

What can be done to fix torn ligaments in your fingers or thumb. because its very painful. also..what medicines can be taken for relief?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: It depends on the degree of the tear (partial of complete), the position of the bones against each other, the degree of the diasthasis (separation). Simple tears may be treated with buddy taping or finger splints, whereas complex ones may require surgical correction. Simple analgesics such as tylenol, (acetaminophen) ibuprofen/naproxen are usually enough to subdue the pain.
