Specialist : Make sure you are seeing a hand specialist. Clinical exam would likely be more useful than MRI to determine nature of injury and whether or not surgery is needed. Also, presence of metal Implants does not always contraindicate getting an MRI. For example, we get MRI scans on people all the time that have metallic total hip Implants without any problem,
