ETD - see doc: The sensation of ears clogging, clicking and popping usually mean the eustachian tubes are not working well. Normally they equalize pressure in the middle ear and prevent fluid from accumulating. Swelling from infection (virus) or allergy can prevent normal function. Warning: this can last for weeks/months. Valsalva maneuver (blowing while pinching nose), sudafed, nasal sprays + prednisone help.
