No: IF you're having symptoms related to the gallbladder, then you should have it taken out to relieve the symptoms, and prevent it from getting worse. There was a common practice in the US for many years to remove the gallbladder/stones in diabetics because it was thought gallbladder disease was particularly severe when it flared up. This is no longer the case. Hope this helps!

You don't need: your gallbladder out simply because you are diabetic. Did the gallbladder show signs of inflammation(cholecystitis) on the ultrasound? Diabetics are more prone to acalculous cholecystitis, inflammation of the GB without gallstones, but generally the US and HIDA scan will be abnormal.
