A member asked:

Is metformin effective for low (but w/in normal range) c-petide? negative on gad 65 and ica (islet).

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Metformin: Metformin is used to treat the insulin resistance of type 2 diabetes. It can be used for "prediabetes", which involves a blood sugar in the gray zone between normal and diabetes. Insulin resistance involves a high insulin and C-peptide. If you think you have low insulin, beta cell failure, then metformin will not help.
