Metformin: Metformin generally doesn't cause hypoglycemia(blood sugar below 60). Sometimes when the blood sugar spikes sharply upward and then drops to normal quickly, symptoms similar to hypoglycemia can occur. If this happens to you, avoid eating concentrated sweets to avoid those spikes in blood sugar. An endocrinologist can advise you further.

Metformin: Does not cause Hypoglycemia by itself. Blood sugar of 87 should not severe hypoglycemia except if your blood sugar has been running high. Discuss with your physician if their is any other explanation for your symptoms
