Mgt: Since she is not improving and her throat is red, I would suggest having another visit and possibly a strep test swab of her throat. In the meantime, keep her well hydrated and Tylenol (acetaminophen) can be given for the fever.

Miscommunication: I don't recall ever knowing a doc that would say that nothing was wrong in such a situation and have never done so myself. Most kids get their illnesses through their throat, and most are viral, meaning antibiotics are not needed.If the doc tested for strep, and the throat was the only problem,the "wrong" did not require antibiotics. If not tested, it should be.
