Graft surgery: Receeding gums have many causes like ageing, bruxing or clinching, oral habits, and after braces. If the gums shrink down to far and you loose too much gingiva that is attached to bone, it could lead to tooth loss. Keeping the area clean without aggrevating the site is important. A common treatment for recession is grafting. It is a minor surgery where they lift the gums up and place new tissue.

See your dentist: If you think your gums are receding, regardless the cause (gum disease, bruxism, etc.) schedule an appointment with your dentist. There are conservative and surgical treatments that can repair and restore the gum and prevent further damage.
