See a GYN MD: Extended bleeding of 31 days is NOT menopause but a medical problem that needs to be addressed and remedied by a GYN MD soon to avoid anemia.

Your demographics?: Your name and demographics suggest you are male... However, if you are asking on behalf of someone who is female and is between 40 and 50, this could be the start of menopause. But it is not normal. She should have a pregnancy test and see a physician. This will not likely go away on its own, and it could be serious.

Prolonged period: It could be some dysfunctional uterine bleeding BUT we have to make sure we are not missing anything here. I recommend you to see your gynecologist and definitely get a pregnancy test , pap-smear, pelvic exam and some blood work like thyroid function tests etc and hormonal levels and also ultrasound.

See a doctor: This is not a sign of menopause and should be checked out. Periods become less regular as menopause approaches, but this is not normal.
