A member asked:

I wonder if iron bisglycinate is absorbed in stomach or intestine. i have a reflux problem and cannot tolerate those absorbed in stomach?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Intestines: Iron is not absorbed in the stomach. Absorbed best in the distal duodenum and proximal jejunum where iron transport proteins export iron to the blood. Do not take iron with food. Take iron 2 hours before or 4 hours after antacids. Iron absorbed in mildly acidic medium. Take with 1/2 glass OJ or Vitamin C pill 250 mg.
