Hi, whats the best way to deal with a 6 yr old whose molars are rotten and breaking off bit by bit, not too much pain, have them pulled or wait it out?

Pediatric Dentist: Have the child evaluated by a pediatric dentist. Those teeth may or may not be restorable. "Waiting it out" is ignoring the problem and neglecting the child. Rotting teeth can lead to infection and damage to the permanent dentition.

Dental visit: If these are baby teeth, they guide in the permanent teeth that follow. Suggest a comprehensive dental exam to evaluate space maintenance for erupting teeth

Neither; restore: Childhood or primary molars are usually retained until 10-12 years of age, and help to maintain alignment of the secondary teeth. If at all possible, see a dentist that can do restorations or at least advise you on adult dental outcome if these teeth are removed prematurely.

Supervised neglect: Supervised neglect is NEVER a good answer. If your child's teeth are falling apart, they are infected. Your child needs comprehensive dental care immediately. The longer you wait, the more the infection spreads. If baby teeth are lost prematurely space maintainers may be in order. Any amount of pain is too much pain. What you are describing is Child Neglect. GET HELP NOW!

See a pedodontist: A tooth decay won't go away without treatment and the infection may spread to your jaw, cheeks, sinus and to other areas of your head and neck. Visit a pedodontist ASAP for definitive diagnosis and treatment. Good luck!
