A member asked:

Is it normal for a 2 year old to have a body temp in the 99s in the evenings? she is well and is healthy, but seems like thats her baseline temp during the evening. she does have molars coming in right now. temp never breaks 100 taken by ear?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Temperature: Although the literature says no physiologic reason for this, low grade temperatures have been recorded with teething episodes. The concern, however, is fever as a normal response to infection. If your child is 2, she should have been under the care of a Dentist since her 1st b'day. Please have her examined by that Dentist. If she doesn't have a Dentist, please see a specialist Pedodontist now.
