Please see your doctor: you might need a longer acting/stronger antihistaminic, in addition to systemic steroids if need be to control the acute stage, also to look for a possible cause for your hives/welts and the itching, take care

Chronic Urticaria: You might be suffering from chronic idiopathic or spontaneous hives if >6 weeks. It is not due to any medication or food trigger. No specific cause can be identified in most patients. Screening labs can be drawn by Allergist to see if hives caused by a certain trigger or autoimmune condition. High dose antihistamines helpful, as well as Singulair (montelukast). See Allergist for more details.

See allergist: In order to treat it, one needs to search for a potential cause and thus I would recommend that you consult a dermatologist or allergist. In many ways, itching is worse than pain.
