Wait/ ENT : Reactive lymphoid hyperplasia is benign and usually a response to infection. Chronic upper respiratory infections can cause lymphadenopathy. Other causes are cat-scratch disease, toxoplasmosis, and viral lymphadenitis. Reactive lymph node are usually mobile and less than 1 cm. Cancerous lymph nodes are usually > 1cm and firm/fixed. If persusts much longer, follow up with ENT doc.

Hyperplasia: Hyperplasia in this setting just means benign with nothing to point to a specific illness. Stable nodes are best left alone. You lost a friend in having this node removed, but your body will form another.

Mgt: The biopsy report should also state that there are no malignant cells. A pcr test for EBV and other viruses can also be performed.
