See local geneticist: Most comprehensive "First Trimester Genetic Screenings" are done between 10and 13 weeks when a combination of blood tests and sonographic exam of the fetus can be performed. A few ob geneticists and specialized labs may be able to screen your blood for fetal material (cell-free fetal DNA) a bit earlier than that.

Free Fetal DNA at 9: it is noW standard to offer a blood test for free fetal DNA at nine weeks gestation. Your risk of trisomies or Turner syndrome is about 1 in 30. Many OBs or MFMs would be happy to do that for you. The results take about a week, 99% accurate, positive needs a CVS or amniocentesis for confirmationif if a chromosomal abnormality is detected Ask yourselfwould like the results at 10 ws or 17?
