A member asked:

Had a tendon debridement surgery on my right hand and now on a splint, my fingers and knucles are all swollen and purpleish in color. is this normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Swelling and purple color are due to the surgery and are normal. If you start having increased pain, redness, fever or pus in the wound these are concerning and you should return immediately to your surgeon or to emergency if you have these. The swelling and purple color will decrease over the next few weeks.
