Cervical cancer: Precursor lesions to cervical cancer (LSIL, HSIL) usually appear 10 or more years before an invasive cancer, but are not always detected immediately upon appearance. Colposcopy and bx are used to exclude the presence of something worse than what was seen on Pap test. If detected visually, then local excision using electrocautery, is usually effective, but f/u needed until HPV neg. Cryo occ. poss
