Please clarify.: Anaplastic thyroid cancer is a very aggressive form of thyroid cancer. It is rare, highly malignant, and rapidly fatal. Probably the only treatment with any chance of a decent outcome is total thyroidectomy with regional lymph node exploration. Levothyroxine replacement therapy and iodine131 ablation are done 3 weeks after surgery to destroy remaining thyroid tissue, and repeat scan at 3 years.

Depends on the stage: These are fairly uncommon but very aggressive cancers that originate in the thyroid gland, but act much differently than the majority of thyroid cancers, which tend to have an excellent prognosis. If it is not completely localized, a combination of radiation and chemotherapy is usually used.

Anaplastic thyroid: Anaplastic thyroid cancer is rare however it is a very agressive type of thyroid cancer. The best treatment is surgery- with total removal of the thyroid gland and resection of the lymph gland on the neck around it. Radiation therapy following surgery is given for local control. For advance stage- chemo vs. Clinical trials using medicine eg- sorafenib/tyrosine kinase inhibitor or m-tor inhibitor
