Yes: So traditionally HSV was responsible for oral lesion and HSV 2 genital lesions. They are commonly in both areas now. You can have virus present anywhere in the body without having a visible lesions, or the lesion may be visible but very hard to see. You can do blood to see if you have been exposed in the past, but there is not really a test to see if a lesion is there but hard to see
