Antibiotic eardrops: In swimmer's ear, there is an infection involving the ear canal skin and surrounding structures. If caught early enough, an antibiotic ear drop (with or without steroids) is all that is necessary to treat the infection. Occasionally, if the pain is severe, prescription pain medications may be needed. During the recovery, it is important not to get the ear wet as this could lead to failure.
