Swelling: if its your big toe, and red and swollen it could be gout, a arthritic condition caused by excess uric acid. if you have a cut to the skin it could be a bacterial infection and may have reoccured. I usually treat this with bactrim, (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) clindamycin, or doxycycline to treat skin infections. i would recommend going to the ER and just get evaluated if you cant get into your PCP's office.
