A member asked:

If cdc and who recommends hiv test has to be done after 3 months of exposure then why some doctors suggest to retest again after 6 months ?confused

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Antibody: Some people do not make antibody in 3 months and a few may take up to a year. Most people who are infected usually make antibodies by six months. If the HIV test is positive at 3 months, there is no need to re test. Test at 6 months is to make sure that a delayed antibody response is not missed.
