Some providers have more conservative advice than others, or haven't updated from earlier advice using older tests. Professional (or at least professionally moderated) websites are best -- e.g. public health agencies, academic medical centers, etc. There have been no proved cases of HIV AgAb test taking longer than 6 weeks to turn positive, except following post-exposure prophylaxis (anti-HIV Rx).
