First things first: The number one thing you can do to get the ball rolling is to eliminate carbonated beverages from your diet. This includes both regular and diet soft drinks. Next, work on elimitating other sources of simple sugars. Once you've done that, add in another serving or two of vegetables. That should be an easy first step to get you on your way. Don't forget to stay hydrated. Good luck!

See your doctor: Your doctor can get you started on a proper diet to be combined with exercise. If you have other issues such as diabetes or metabolic syndrome she will address that with you as well. Portion control and selection of healthy foods are helpful and changing your life habits will make a long term difference. Stay well.
