Tough question!: As you know now, insomnia is tough to treat sometimes. It depends on the cause, but you say you are waking due to pain. So addressing the pain seems to be the key. Keep working on this with your doc. Also, good sleep habits are important. Look up "sleep hygiene" on healthtap or on reputable, noncommercial websites for more info.
