Yes: You can take Xanax (alprazolam) and receive the same effect, albeit for a shorter period of time. Understand also that Xanax (alprazolam) has a slightly higher dependency profile due it's shorter half-life. Since you are on vacation, this may a good time to see how you do without either of these medications. Perhaps the insomnia won't be as bad or even present away from the usual stressors of your home environment.

Old enuf to know: Probably you will be okay and - if it works, you might consider asking your provider to help you choose the best drug and lowest dose for you. People shouldn't share Rxs - you know that, right? Also, think about memory aids - we're getting older and need to plan ahead. If the vacation is good (active and relaxing) - you might not even need a pill to sleep - give it a try. Take care!
