Tension headaches: are extremely common, and rarely related to any significant problem in the brain. Tumors can cause headaches. An examination by a doctor can determine if there is increased intracranial pressure which would occur with a tumor, by looking at the retina. The borders of "disc" where the optic nerve enters the eye will be blurred when there is increased pressure. Then a CT scan is indicated.

Not likely : Tension headaches are due to tension in muscles in the head & neck usually as a result of stress, poor posture, new activities which place more tension on muscles around the head & neck. Tension relaxing exercises, massage, heat on neck muscles may improve your symptoms substantially. If ever there is a new change or worsening of symptoms, you should see your physician (history of a brain lesion).
