Hormonal fluctuation: The length of the period can change with fluctuations of hormones, which can be caused by various stressors on the body such as excessive physical exercise, climate change, an illness and even by weight gain or loss. If it was very light or just spotting and you are at all concerned that you could be pregnant, then taking a pregnancy test would be reasonable.
