Check for pregnancy: I suggest being checked for pregnancy. If the test is negative, other common causes of an early, lighter menses can be a missed ovulation associated with an ovarian cyst (causing pain), or a pelvic infection which can also cause pain. It would be best to be seen, given that you have cramping.
