A member asked:

Any statistics relating to the relative frequency of benign kidney nodules vs. cancerous kidney tumors? i have a 'nodule' - seeing urologist next wk

Size: Small kidney nodule is less likely to be cancer. The usual break point for concern is a nodule larger than 2.0 cm.

It's moot: You either have cancer or you don't. We're going to find out. The radiologist can second-guess; even I can spot the obviously-benign and obviously-malignant ones. So sharing a number would be meaningless, since I don't know what yours looks like. What I can share is that a good majority of those picked up incidentally are very curable if managed appropriate and on time. A week's delay is okay.
