You..: I would recommend warm compresses twice daily and application of topical antibiotic ointment if you have it on hand. If this has been present for more than 3 days, seek medical care because you may need oral antibiotics also.

Does it hurt?: If you have pain along with the redness, you may have an infection or a sunburn. If it is due to infection, you need to get seen very soon. If it is not painful and just itchy, it may be due to a soap, detergent or shampoo you are using and stop any new ones. Get seen if it continues to bother you.
