Sinusitis: Severe SInusitis can cause facial discomfort with possible entrapped purulent secretions causing the hot sensations. Steam inhalations and irrigating the nasal passages with warm salt water promoting drainage are important in relieving some of your symptoms. Sometimes a more potent antibiotic is needed to clear up severe SInusitis. An otolaryngologist is best qualified to evaluate and advise you.
