Lingual frenum: The area or string or skin and muscle that attaches your tongue to the floor of your mouth is called the lingual frenum. This area can be traumatized easily if you do any activity that over uses you tongue. I.e Oral Sex, sucking lollipops, eating rough or salty candy. If this area is giving you problems, doesn't seem to be healing, or you can't recall any reason for this to be sore, see a dentist
