A member asked:

Can hiv symptoms, such as night sweats and mild fever appear after one day post possible exposure? and when antibody tests can detect it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: It is very unlikely HIV would cause symptoms the day after exposure. Antibody test may be positive as soon as 3 weeks after exposure, but a negative result does not rule infection as it may rarely take a year for antibody test to be positive, HIV nucleic acid test, if negative at 4 months after exposure would essentially rule out HIV.
